About Andrea Siluk, M.A.

Andrea Siluk was born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She grew up living on a sailboat while traveling with her family. She graduated from the University of Florida in May 2015 with a Bachelor’s degree in English and a minor in Education. Andrea is currently a first-year master’s student in the Speech-Language Pathology program at UF. She has joined the SSC lab team to pursue her interests in speech, breathing and swallowing. Under the guidance of Dr. Emily Plowman, Andrea is completing a master’s thesis focusing on pharyngeal constriction in patients with Oculopharyngeal Muscular Dystropy. Andrea’s future aspirations include expanding her research into neurological disorders and diseases with the goal of providing the medical community with greater insight into treating patients with rare neurological diseases.
