Miller Makes her Mark at VA Research and Clinical Event

After completing her Master’s degree and thesis work with the Swallowing Systems Core, Melissa Miller went on to work for the Veterans Affairs Hospital in Gainesville, Florida. There, she participated in the GRECC program, which is coordinated by the Geriatric Research Education and Clinical Center. There are 20 GRECC sites across the United States, all at centers of excellence with a focus on improving the lives of older veterans. You can learn more about GRECC here.

Back in June 2018, Melissa attended a GRECC event where she presented a poster on her research under Dr. Ianessa Humbert. She competed against all of the other GRECC trainees across disciplines including physical therapy, pharmacy and ophthalmology and was awarded first place for her work! She and all the other trainees also received their “graduating certificate” from the GRECC training program, which consisted of weekly presentations of research and scientific papers across disciplines.

Congratulations to Melissa!
